🪶 Personality and Behavior

• Affectionate & Bonding: They are known for being exceptionally sweet and often develop a strong, devoted bond with a primary owner. While some can be "one-person birds," many are social enough to interact with multiple family members.

• Quiet Nature: They have a lower noise level compared to many other parrots, communicating with quick, sharp notes rather than loud screams.

• Intellect: Highly observant and routine-oriented, they enjoy learning new tricks and independent play near their humans.

• Temperament: They are generally more reserved and less hyperactive than South American parrot species like Conures.

🌿Physical Characteristics

• Size: They are mid-sized birds, typically around 8.6 to 9 inches long and weighing between 105–132 grams.

• Coloration: Adults are primarily dark brown or slate-grey. They feature striking yellow patches on the shoulders and thighs.

• Sexual Dimorphism: Unlike many parrots, you can tell males and females apart visually: adult females have bright blue feathers on their lower back and rump, while males lose this coloration as they mature.

💛 Care and Maintenance

• Lifespan: With proper care, they can live for 25 to 40 years.

• Diet: They require a balanced diet of high-quality pellets, fresh vegetables (carrots, green beans, peas), fruits, and healthy fats like walnuts.

• Social Needs: Because they are rare and social, they require significant daily interaction and mental stimulation through foraging toys and wood perches.

• Housing: A minimum cage size of 24" x 24" x 30" is recommended to allow for climbing and exploration.
